If a major version bump is too big of a change: just bumping the minor version would already fix these issues for wayland users. So updating electron to 35.2.1 or 35.2.2 would be a big improvement!

Yes updating to 35.2.2 should fix those problems already.

Why update to 36.0.0? If you want to do it pull latest 36.x.x version e.g. https://github.com/electron/electron/releases/tag/v36.2.1 as it has many fixes. Updating it to 36.0.0 will introduce again many bugs...
