Contrast

Piotr Grochowski edited this page Dec 28, 2019 · 15 revisions

DirectWrite and GDI contrast can now be modified separately. This setting changes the contrast of the whole font (both edges and stroke weight):

In GDI:

  • Higher settings shove gray pixels to extreme black or white, and tuning too high can lead to colored and jagged font edges
  • Lower settings make for more gray pixels

In DW:

  • Higher settings make fonts more distorted with darker stroke weight
  • Lower settings can make fonts smoother (depending on other settings especially GammaValue), and with lighter stroke weight

Example use:

[General]
Contrast=3.0

[DirectWrite]
Contrast=1.0

Range:

Min: 0.0625

Max: 10.0

Default: 1

Windows default: 0
