I'm James, and I'm a... technologist, I guess? I'm interested in all sorts of things, but they all tend to revolve around a belief in the power of the web to unite us and make the world a better place.

As well as my actual job with @dxw, I always have a bunch of side projects on the go. Here's a few highlights:

• I founded @OpenPolitics, an experiment in using open source ideas for politics. As part of that I founded @SomethingNewUK and stood for election a few times.
• I help maintain a some open source data validation tools I built while at @theodi, now as part of @Data-Liberation-Front
• I run a public Mastodon server https://mastodon.me.uk
• I also knock up handy web apps to scratch itches in my non-coding hobbies like boardgaming and 3d printing.
