Hi I'm Cam. I am just a regular developer from Toronto, Canada, in search of your spare change to fund my cravings for milk tea.
I like starting new projects to experiment with new ideas in pursuit of writing code that makes me happy. It makes me happy when all the pieces have fallen into the right places, and the resulting code is both visually and logically pleasing.
Though it's always a goal to finish the projects I start, I rarely do because I get bored when I stop learning. If I have started but not yet finished a project that is interesting to you, your sponsorship may help keep me from becoming bored of it.
My current main project is a fully customizable online multiplayer turn-based strategy game, Battlefield. This is my first exploration into building a game (or any program really) that supports user modification via code. Who knows if I will ever finish it though.
That said, I have actually finished some pretty cool projects in the past, mainly to aid me in the appreciation of a nice piece code, such as syncat (a syntax highlighted replacement for cat
that is more accurate than the competition), and paper (a command-line Markdown renderer that is prettier than the competition).
If playing around in your terminal is not your thing, I've also turned a few board games into sketchy browser games, including Catan, Tokaido, Machi Koro and Mahjong. Feel free to play, but be prepared to submit a few bug reports.
Areas I would like to explore in the future, which your sponsorship may also help me achieve:
- Offline, decentralized, social networking based on peer-to-peer communication.
- The perfect combination of logic programming and databases.
- Teaching programming concepts in a way that is valuable to people of all skill levels.
