gnome-terminal seems to work well for me, with the following settings:

DejaVu Sans Mono 10pt
"Grey on black" or "White on black" color scheme (which one I prefer depends on the monitor)
"Rxvt" color palette
Check "show bold text in bright colors"
Uncheck "show scrollbar"
