- There are a couple ways to submit your song. Both ways involve you making a Github account, Forking, and making a PR with your MP3 (If Applicable), MIDI, and Binary Files:
- Submission Form: The best and easiest way to submit your own converted music is to visit this Site and follow the instructions. The last screen will give you a template that you just copy and edit paste into the Pull Request Comment. DO NOT DELETE THE

LINE - Directly from Github: The second way is to directly create your Pull Request through Github. Only use this if you know your way around Github. You want to make a Pull request with the above files mentioned and edit this line here:

Line, Github Actions will not recognize your PR as a song and will comment letting you know that your PR isnt a song. If this happens, just edit your comment and re-add that line on the top. - After you submit your song, the Music Verifiers will review it and will either accept or decline it. If your submission is declined for any reason, one of the Music Verifiers will DM you (pertaining you are a member of the DK64 Randomizer Discord Server, or otherwise will leave a comment in your Pull Request) explaining the reason for the decline. You will know if your submission got accepted when we merge your Pull Request into the main repository and it shows up in the
#Music-Files
Channel of the Discord. It is highly recommended you keep your eye on your both Pull Request and Message Requests on Discord, as those are the places where you'll be receiving your update.
- We will only accept songs converted from Video Game Music. There are some exceptions to Video Game Music that are not allowed:
- Licensed Video Game Music: Some example include songs from the Guitar Hero franchise such as Through The Fire and Flames
- DMCA Prone Music: DMCA Prone Intellectual Property Music such as Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up or Michael Jackson's Moon Walker will NOT be added to the Pack Builder.
- Public Domain: Any Music that is within the Public Domain IS Allowed to be submitted, as it's copyright has expired. If your song falls under this category, please ensure that your song is based on the original work that is in the public domain and not any performances that are not in the public domain.
The loudness of your song is one of, if not the most important contributing factor to getting your song accepted by the verifiers. To see how loud your song is, you can upload an audio file of your song to this Site and it will return the Momentary Max, Short Term Max, and Integrated volume in LUFS.
For your song to be accepted (barring any other issues we find), the volume must satisfy the following:
- The Momentary Max should not be above -12LUFS, this applies to every type of song submission.
- If your submission is a Major Item, Minor Item, or Event, your Integrated volume must be around -17LUFS.
- For BGM submissions, your Integrated volume will more or less depend on the Location Tags you give it.
- BGM submissions tagged
Exteriors
andInteriors
should be around -17LUFS or lower. - BGM submissions tagged
Minigames
should be around -16LUFS. - BGM submissions tagged
Fights
can be up to -15LUFS.
- BGM submissions tagged
When testing your volume make sure to follow these steps to ensure you have the most accurate recording of your song possible:
- Use a randomised ROM with random music enabled, this setting will even out the internal mixers for all of the areas a song will play.
- In the main menu, go to
Sound
and setMusic
to 100 andSFX
to 0, this will mitigate any extra sound from enemies and idle animations. - Record audio directly from the emulator, the simplest way (and the way the verifiers use) is to use this custom fork of BizHawk that can run DK64.
- In BizHawk, go to
File -> AVI/WAV
and selectConfigure and Record AVI/WAV...
. - Select
WAV writer
and clickOK
. - Navigate to where you want to place your output file.
- Enter the area where your song plays and wait until a few seconds after it's looped.
- Go to
File -> AVI/WAV
and selectStop AVI/WAV
. - In an external audio such as Audacity, trim all of the whitespace between you starting the recording and when your song starts playing.
- In BizHawk, go to
