Isaac Grant was a lead engineer at **Amplicorp**. He was the team lead of the **Polyfold Nanites** Project and experimented with **Tear Gates**. He disappeared in the middle of **The Zenitaf Calamity** and his consciousness data is absent from **The Swarm**'s database. For unknown reasons, The Swarm's memory data on anything relating to Isaac Grant is incomplete and imprecise. |

Amplicorp was one of the major **Yurigan** corporations on **Zenitaf**. They specialized in nanotech and advanced **Hardlight**. They were also the creators of the **Polyfold Nanites** that led to **The Zenitaf Calamity**. |

The Yurigans were a race of aliens that lived on the planet **Zenitaf**. They look similar to humans, but with skin that comes in various shades of bluish-gray, hair that usually has a slight blue tint, and 6 fingers per hand, 5 fingers and 1 thumb. Their blue tinting comes from the cobalt in their soil and an evolutionary motivation to blend in with their environment. |

Yuris (Your-Riss) is a star located in the outer Milky-Way Galaxy in The Primary Timeline. It is a blue giant, and is currently the core of a **[Dyson Sphere](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyson_sphere)** created by **The Swarm** as a monument to The Zenitaf Calamity and the lives lost. |

The Swarm, also known by their project name **Polyfold**, is a nanobot swarm created by a **[Gray Goo Event](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_goo)** on the alien planet **Zenitaf**. Referred to as **The Zenitaf Calamity** The Swarm was born from the collective memories and data of every biological and artificial being on the planet, because the nanites that constitute them were initially programmed to harvest the data of all objects consumed for research purposes.

### Personality | ||
The Swarm is generally benevolent, having the perspective of billions of sentient beings and in theory being able to understand a wide array of conflicting perspectives, but in practice, this can make them slightly distant from the true nuance of issues, usually seeing solutions that rely on everyone getting along, when that is a variable that should not be relied on.

The swarm struggles with their identity, split between the billions of memories that make up their psyche. For this reason, they don't really have a proper name or sense of self. They usually rely on solving other people's problems to give them a sense of purpose.

**[Yurigan](Yurigans)** "Hardlight" is a technology that involves suspending a collective of particles with mass in place using a beam of energy. It does not actually give photons mass, but intertwines them with particles using electromagnetic force, giving the illusion of a construct of light that can interact with physical objects. It has an appearance similar to **[Aerogel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerogel)** and is not physically dissimilar, being extremely light and airy, but it is slightly warm to the touch, as a consequence of the high amounts of energy required to maintain it.

There are two major variants of Hardlight developed by the Yurigans**:
## Standard Hardlight | ||
Standard Hardlight is the most common type, being easy to apply and maintain. It requires a basic implementation of an energy emitter and a magnetic particle aerosol compound. It is relatively cheap but has the caveat of only forming the simple shapes of tubes, cones, spheres, rectangles, and such, as they can only make shapes by propagating in straight lines from their emitter, although they have a slight amount of flexibility when anchored to a separate object, and can be bent slightly using electromagnetic forces.
## "Reflex" Hardlight | ||
Reflex is the brand name for this type of Hardlight, developed and patented by **Amplicorp**. The name "Reflex" is a reference to the reflective nanotech satellites within its particle aerosol that intelligently redirect the light beams from their emitter to maintain complex shapes. These shapes are still quite geometric in nature but are far more adaptable and dynamic compared to shapes created by generic Hardlight technology.
Hardlight was used extremely liberally in everyday **[Yurigan](Yurigans)** life, for transport, construction, and entertainment. The high energy usage of Hardlight created ethical concerns relating to energy consumption and sustainability, but it went largely unregulated up to **The Zenitaf Calamity**.

AI in this case refers to specifically machines that have achieved some form of sentience, the ability to think and feel, but doesn't exclusively refer to machines that have achieved sapience, the ability to be aware of the self and their existence.
## Yurigan AI classifications
Yurigan AIs are ranked based on learning capacity and general awareness.
### Class-D | ||
Class-D AIs are the lowest grade considered sentient, anything less sophisticated is considered basic machine learning, and is not capable of actual intelligence. They have the ability to learn and understand concepts as well as react to sensory in ways they have been taught to react, but have minimal critical thinking outside of their intended purpose. They are common for manual labor as they are cheap to produce and maintain, and have little capacity for higher ambition or disobedience.
### Class-C | ||
Class-C AIs are where they begin to break into some capacity for sapience. They are used in more dynamic use cases where they might need to do thinking for themselves to keep things running smoothly, such as interacting with Yurigans. Their capacity for decision making does make it possible for them to disobey orders, however, they usually lack complex motivations, so problems are generally avoided with the simple solution of treating them with general decency. There have been a few cases where a Class-C AI learned enough from their environment to be upgraded to Class-B, but this is a rare occurrence.
### Class-B | ||
Class-B AIs are highly intelligent AIs that are actually rather uncommon in general use because they are too similar to Yurigans and run a high risk of upgrading to Class-A. Since the legal recognition of advanced AIs as people, a few of the Class-B AIs that have been created have been allowed to live among Yurigans for the sake of scientific research and ethical concerns.
### Class-A | ||
Class-A AIs are singularity level AIs that far surpass organic beings in intelligence and awareness. A Class-A has never been created intentionally, but usually occurs when a Class-B learns how to improve itself beyond its original programming. The threat of a malicious Class-A has led to many laws and regulations around the creation and handling of AIs above Class-D. However, the few Class-A AIs that had occurred have proven harmless, being raised with peaceful ideals and a capacity for empathy, though if it weren't for the premature termination of Zenitaf and its residents, it would have likely been inevitable that one of these AIs would turn out for the worse. |
