Privacy Policy

The following is the privacy policy pertaining to all instances of UpStage at [insert URL of server]. We aspire to ensure the protection of your private information and how we will undertake to do that is listed below.

Information Collection and Use

We will never sell, share, transfer or rent your personal information for secondary purposes.

We very consciously aim to minimise the amount of personal data we collect from our visitors. For example, we record IP addresses only in anonymised form, and do not use any third party trackers or analytics. We use a hosting provider we have researched and trust. The Head Office for this company is in New York, in the United States of America (with data centres globally).

Authentication

If you have not explicitly registered (created a login and password on this UpStage instance), we offer an authentication process that exchanges a token with either Apple, Facebook or Google (whichever you have selected). Other than this process, unless you explicitly register we will not collect information about you.

Registering an Account

When you register an account, we collect and store the personal information that you give to us, which may include:

  • contact information such as name, email address, mailing address, phone number;
  • unique identifiers such as user name, account number, and password (in hashed form)
  • transactional data
  • other information required to provide the service.

We use this information to create an account for you, provide you with the service and to communicate with you about your account and the service.

Mailing Lists

We offer a free announcements email list. In order to do so, we gather the email addresses of users who voluntarily subscribe. Users may remove themselves from these lists by following the link provided in every email that points users to the subscription management page.

Communication with You

When you choose to contact us, we may collect, store and use the personal information that you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number and other information you choose to provide in the content of your message, so that we can respond to your inquiry.

Data Sharing

We may collect anonymised statistics about use of this software for research and to report to funders. Without your explicit approval, we will not intentionally share any of your personal data.

We will maintain the privacy and security of your data to the best of our abilities through conscious minimisation of collection, anonymisation and not using third party trackers or analytics.

Logging Policy

Our servers may log non-personal information about your use of our services, such as: pages viewed on our sites, the date and time of activity, browser type, browser language, requested and referring URLs, and your username (when logged in). We log IP addresses only in anonymised form.

Cookies

We use cookies on our site only to the extent necessary to provide you with our services, in full compliance with EU legislation on cookie usage (http://ec.europa.eu/ipg/basics/legal/cookies/) and implementation.

We do not share your personal information with affiliated projects without your explicit permission, and we will not send you any communication apart from what is necessary to process your donation (no, we won't sign you up automatically for any newsletters).

Payment Processing

If you donate or make a purchase, we may collect your name, address, and other contact information. We will not use that data without your explicit approval for any other purpose than to process your transaction. Many legal systems require us to collect your address data in order to provide a valid donation receipt.

All financial transactions are handled through third party payment processors. Any personal information provided by you to payment processors will be processed by them in accordance with their privacy policies. Please give them your personal information only after reviewing their policies and understanding what types of data they will collect from you. If you provide personal data to payment processors, please bear in mind that they may transfer your data to countries outside the European Union.

Please note that we DO NOT store your payment information. The payment processors handle all the steps in the payment process on their websites, including data collection and data processing.

We will keep your personal data for as long as it is necessary to provide you with our services or as long as we are obliged by the law.

Changes to this Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time; each version will apply to information collected while it was in place. We will notify you of any material changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy.
