This is a patch release of the Uptane standard that addresses the following minor issues:

  • Provides minor clarification on delegations metadata (2f24911)
  • Corrects some references to specific step numbers (32bf591 / 06fe0b8)
  • Clarifies use of a cryptographic nonce vs. a simple counter in ECU version reports (9fe368a / 596b3d5 / 9d4ffd0)
  • Clarifies that metadata does not necessarily need to be re-downloaded if the client's copy is still fresh (3a844bb)
  • Adds some extra explanation about why ECUs need Uptane metadata to be pre-installed (a2fc560 / 11558ad)

Note that this release cannot technically supersede IEEE-ISTO 6100.1.0.0, the initial public release of the standard. When the Uptane project moved to the Linux Foundation, the IEEE-ISTO organization called the Uptane Alliance was dissolved. Nor is it an official release under the auspices of Joint Development Foundation Projects, LLC, Uptane Series, as the release processes for that organization have not yet been formally ratified.

However, this patch release can be considered to reflect the authors' intent and has been approved by the Uptane Standard working group. We recommend incorporating these errata when implementing Uptane.
