The protocol uses a slightly extended version of the SPHINX packet format.
- one trustworthy hop in the chain suffices to ensure privacy
- incoming and outgoing messages are computationally indistinguishable
- single-use replies blocks allow both, sender and receiver, to hide their identity
- hidden path length*
* up to a maximal path length specified by the header size
