Ubermap v1.0.0b2 PayPal donate button

Updated version for Live 10.1 by alenauta PayPal donate button

vokinpirks' revision (based on the alenauta's fix for live 10)

Ubermap with fixes for Live 11 and some minor workflow improvements, including:

  • the concept of device config versioning was abolished, so
    • the hash part was removed from device configuration filenames.
      • was: "<device_name>_<hash>.cfg"
      • now: "<device_name>.cfg"
    • when parameters are added to/removed from a device (or any other changes to the parameter list of the device took place), the existing device configuration keeps working, no need to make a new one, as opposed to the old workflow
    • as a consequence, support for Reaktor/Max devices with different sets of parameters has gone
  • all unmapped parameters of a device are now logged to a file with a name like <device_name>_unmapped.txt, so it's a bit easier to write configs as you can open both files in the split mode in a text editor and drag parameters' names.
  • some device configuration 'syntax sugar' added:
    • you can omit a custom parameter name and use an empty string ("") if it the same as original parameter name.

      • was:

        Frequency = Frequency

      • now:

        Frequency = ""

    • you can use the asterisk character (*) instead of custom parameter name if it's just an original parameter name split with the space character

      • was:

        ModulationDepth = Modulation Depth

      • now:

        ModulationDepth = *

  • made a few of devices' configs, including carefully handcrafted the Serum and SerumFX ones

Migration note:

In order to use this version all you need to do is to rename device config files as described above.

Introduction

Ubermap is a script for Ableton Live to allow Push users to create custom parameter mappings for VST and AU plugins on the Push display.

Features:

  • Easy customisation of device bank and parameter names displayed on Push for devices, using simple configuration files
  • Modify configurations instantly without reloading Live

Disclaimer

This alpha release is intended only for advanced users who are willing to risk things breaking, and is not production ready. It hasn't been tested on any machines other than my own, so might not work at all or might do something really bad :)

This script changes your Ableton MIDI Remote configs, and could introduce instability or potentially even data corruption, so please do not use it on your main machine and ensure you have backups of all your data before using.

Logging

Ubermap components log to ~/Ubermap/main.log, and the log level is controlled by the settings in ~/Ubermap/global.cfg. Debug logging is turned off by default, as it is very verbose, info logging is turned on, and error logging cannot be disabled. The log file is wiped out each time the script restarts (e.g. when restarting Ableton) so shouldn't grow to be massive.

Support

For support, please ask in the thread on the Ableton forum - I can't offer any guarantees of support but will try and help.
