Install Net::HTTP, and copy the shell script to a suitable location
Usage: http-ping.pl [ -s server ] [ -p port ] [ -d delay ] [ -u uri ] [ -h ]
$ ./http-ping.pl -s www.prefetch.net -p 80 -d 5 -u /index.html
