Interval matrix

By clicking on Analysis tab in the top menu you can see a table of all the modes/rotations of your scale (the interval matrix).

Here are the modes of the major scale in 12edo:

Each row is what you would get by using the Rotate modifier (with an extra unison line for clarity).

The display radio buttons let you see how how your scale would look like if you converted it.

Chord wheels

Below the matrix you can see two chord wheels displaying information about the notes you are currently playing.

Here you can see that a minor chord in 12edo can be interpreted as a tempered 12:16:19 otonal chord or a 8:6:5 utonal chord. The amount of movement you see when playing the chord tells you how accurately the played chord approximates the interpretation.

Controls

  • Trail longevity controls how much the wheel is smeared out. Larger values help you see the shape even when playing bass notes.
  • Maximum root (otonal) controls how fine-grained the interpretation is for the otonal wheel. Higher values find more accurate but also more complex interpretations.
  • Maximum root (utonal) controls how fine-grained the interpretation is for the utonal wheel.
