2021-06-07 MerMEId Community Call #6

Participants

Daniel Jettka, David Lewis, Martin Albrecht-Hohmaier, Clemens Gubsch, Kevin Page, Omar Siam, Peter Stadler

Agenda

report about fixed issues and closed pull requests

  • Paderborn subgroup investigated and fixed #45. While working on the issue we discovered some pecularities with the Stylesheets filter_get.xsl and filter_put.xsl that might benefit from some refactoring. Daniel Jettka volunteered to have a look and created issue #66.
  • Paderborn subgroup stumbled across an issue in the build process and fixed it as #61.

Open Pull requests

  • Omar added to the pending PR #59 and awaits further review.

Open issues

  • regarding the "Release 2.0" Milestone there are three issues unassigned. Omar points out that #56 and #57 probably just(?) need some template text and documentation on how to modify this necessary information for a custom installation.

AOB

  • Omar shares his idea about evaluating on whether and how to replace the current XForms with more "modern" frontend solutions. It's especially hard to maintain and develop this part of the MerMEId
  • David proposes to tag the development more frequently to make the progress more visible. The group thinks this to be a great idea and assigns Peter to tag the current status as "2.0.0-alpha.2". Recurring (frequent) tagging might happen shortly after the community meetings.
  • Kevin proposes to shift the next meeting to the week of the Music Encoding Conference to reach out to a wider audience. Peter is tasked to approach the program chair and to ask whether tis group might get a time slot for.
  • Kevin reports on ideas to apply for a grant that might involve a work package to develop and modularize the publishing component of MerMEId.

Next meeting

Next regular meeting would be on Monday, 05/08/2021 15:30 (GMT +02:00). Yet we are investigating whether it might be possible to meet during MEC to reach out to a wider community. If possible, the meeting would be shifted.

UPDATE: The next meeting will be held on the MEC Un-conference day on Thursday, 22 July 2021, 17:40-18:40 (CEST)
