2020 Winter Day Use Upgrade Ideas

Improved ventilation

  • 1a. - 3 new bath fans (mens, ladies, shower #2)
  • 1b. - A means to install in (4) exterior dorm doors, a 20" box fan and air seal around it.

Air filtering for lodge commons

  • 2a. (4) box fans with (4) MERV-13 filters. Combined with mask wearing and regular surface disinfection, this would greatly reduce the risk for them those whose risk tolerance exceeds their sense.

Infrared heaters in the Zoo.

I'm thinking a half dozen of the $50 1800W electric heaters. Three along each side so six groups can stand/huddle/sit near one while eating and getting warm and drying out.

We can use propane and the little infrared heater attachments but:

a) con: propane costs a lot more per BTU than electricity b) con: we'd have to regularly haul up freshly filled cylinders of propane through the winter c) con: a fair bit of the propane will will be unusable due to the cold d) pro: no increased electrical load

Propane tanks

  • get our tanks replaced or upgraded with newer valves
  • being able to use them for emergency machine repairs would be nice
  • having an alternative for keeping warm during electricity outage is good
