Welcome to the READ-PSB-LWT-Shiny_SMM21 wiki!

This repo is for the workshop:

"Shiny tools for management rules: Using R and 'shiny' to streamline marine mammal conservation"

This workshop will be presented as part of 24th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals over 2 days (July 30th and 31st, 2022) both virtually and in person in Palm Beach, Florida

  • The first day will be focused on introducing participants to R 'shiny' by presenting examples of tools Hansen and Leah have built to aid in North Atlantic right whale conservation
  • The second day is for you to build and document your own tool to aid in your data processing, reporting, or whatever need you may have in your workflow

Leah will be in-person in Florida while Hansen will be hosting virtually from Canada. We will be presenting on Florida time, and the materials are available at this website via slides, recordings, and other online resources so that participants from all time zones will be able to access materials during their waking hours.

We will use apps we have built that are relevant to North Atlantic right whale conservation as examples, including: NERW apps and WhaleMap

We encourage participants to attend live discussions as we think this forum for sharing challenges and solutions will help foster a supportive and enduring network within the marine mammal community.

To attend in person, please register at the conference website.

Please email (leah.crowe@noaa.gov) or log an issue if you have any questions or would like to register to attend virtually!
