Got assigned to a group and get to know my colleagues in the group! The task is in the field of transcriptomics, to investigate the difference in transcription data of Liver biopsies from Normal, Steatosis, NASH and HCC patients. The three stage of the disease is described as follows:
Steatosis--a condition identified by liver enlargement and accumulation of lipids (in > 5% of hepatocytes), mostly without inflammation in the liver.
NASH (Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis)--A more advanced condition (20-25% accumulation of fat in hepatocytes) identified by liver inflammation and can cause liver scarring, caused by untreated steatosis.
HCC (Hepatocellular Carcinoma)--One of the deadliest and most common type of liver cancer.
Based on these basic knowledge we are going to get some promising result in our project. Waiting for Muhammad to upload the raw data we need. Looking forward to it!
