Tutorial: Creating a Plot
One of the main parts of CityZen involves creating a Plot in your City to protect your builds. A City doesn't necessarily need to have any Plots, but that's kind of the whole point, isn't it?
Before you begin creating your plot, you'll need to meet the following requirements.
-
You must be a Citizen of a City. If you are not, you must join or create a City before proceeding.
-
You must not have reached your Plot limit. Citizens can only have a set number of Plots (which may increase through commands). At no time can you have more than this number of plots, including Plots of which you have joint ownership.
-
Your City must not be at maximum Plot Density. All Cities on the server must abide by the
plotDensityproperty inconfig.yml. This property defines the maximum number of plots a City can have per Citizen. The default value is2.0, meaning all cities can have a maximum of 2 plots per citizen, on average. For example, if a city has 7 Citizens, there could be no more than 14 plots in the city. It's up to City officials to help keep plot counts balanced between players. -
Your City must have OpenPlotting enabled. If this property is enabled, any Citizen in the City can place plots, however if it is disabled, only city officials can place plots. If you are a City Official, ignore this requirement.
There are certain restrictions for Plots that must be met for one to be created, in addition to the above requirements.
-
The Plot size must be larger than the minPlotSize and smaller than the maxPlotSize for your City and for the Server (the server-wide setting takes priority). Remember, your plot's size is the square root of its area. The default maxPlotSize is
16, meaning no plot can have an area greater than 256 blocks. If your plot is a MegaPlot, it can ignore the maxPlotSize, but must be less than the server-wide maxMegaPlotSize. -
The Plot must be in the same world as the rest of the City.
-
The Plot must not overlap another Plot or the boundaries of another City. The Plot must be near another Plot of the same City and not adjacent to a plot of another City. The plot's buffer must overlap or be directly adjacent to a buffer of another plot in the City. See the Plot page for an explanation of Plot Buffers.
Ok, everything above look good? Looks like you're ready to create your Plot. Find the location you want for your Plot and do the following:
-
Type
/plot selectto enable Plot selection mode. -
Move to one corner of where you want your Plot to be and type
/plot pos1to select the first corner. -
Move to the far corner of where you want your plot to be and type
/plot pos2to select the second corner. -
You can set the positions as many times as you want until you have them where you want them. When you're ready to commit, type
/plot createto create a new Plot at your location. If everything went smoothly, you should have a fresh new Plot at your feet. If not, CityZen will let you know what you did wrong.
Now that you have your plot set up, you can start building in it and customize some of its properties. Head to the Commands and Permissions page to see all the commands you can do, or type /cityzen help plot management in game to see how you can use your new Plot.
