Design Process | Promotional Material
A few design mock ups were made and decided upon by the group. No user testing was required as the logo was something would be chosen by the team as it represents the qualities and skills of the team as designers and developers. The name TMZ derives from our last names, with two Tran, one Matsubara-Park, and one Zhang. The initial design of the lightbulb branches off design and generic creativity while the trapezoid design stems from having clean minimalist designs that the team wanted to achieve. The third and fourth designs are based on the T being double, and the square shape replaced the rectangular as we discovered in our concept proposal presentations that a square would be easier to use than a elongated vertically challenged logo.
The design was left alone as the Design Prototype was the next big deliverable, but as the showcase drew closer, the time had to make a decision on what to use for name tags and to represent the team so Momoka made a few mock ups for us. There was suggestion to make it so that the design would apply the T, M and Z letters intuitively, but as the first one looked like a bank logo, the next approach took a more interaction design/ general design style with a cursor, pen, and pencil to create the final logo.
Initially a few phrases were found by Momoka and later had designs made from them:
These stickers were all examples of use of each colour in the palette and 5 were chosen as stickers as the re were certain printing requirements needed.
Colour derived from our current logo design colour scheme at the time before we adjusted the colour scheme to make it stand out more. This was a template before filled out with any content, the problem with this poster was the two colour blend was close to each other which made it hard to create a boundary between the content within the colour borders, and made nothing stand out when glancing.
The main purpose between positioning the app contents was the differentiate what is in the app and the other was the design process of the app. The headings in the poster describes the content what’s going to be contained but this is only a template that hasn’t have any content yet.
Relatively this would be an example what would be contained under the headings. First was the overview, providing an insight of the app, theme of our project and the audience’s problem we’re going to solve. Problem Domain, what was our main drive to develop this idea came from, includes research on the domain we’ve chosen and who are our main demographics. Design Process, displaying what led us to this point of our project, like Ideas & Concept, Sketches & Wireframes, Prototyping and User testing. Features are functionality would assist enhancing this experience for our domain problem audience.
This final poster there was some adjustment relating to the colour scheme and the positioning of content. Team decided our current colour scheme didn’t contrast well with each other, which didn’t make the content stand out and made it hard to see. Positioning of the content; swapped Design Process and Features around because feels like it would make sense of the Feature is the in the center of the poster which would make the first thing the viewer would see. Content in the center is on a triangle background is pointing to the Duobud app on the phone, referring that theses content related closely to the app.
