Sprint 0 delivery

Kaisa Arumeel edited this page May 29, 2023 · 1 revision

Our team decided to create an extra sprint in order to get more time to make our project stand out and work perfectly. The Sprint 0 focused on:

  • Setting up hardware
  • Design prototype
  • Hardware Testing
  • Project structure and templates for the repository
  • Scoping, requirements elicitation

Challenges and Lessons Learned

The biggest problem we encountered was related to the hardware. Unfortunately, the sensors and servo motor that we were planning to use, were not very easy to connect to the Wio Seeed Terminal. For instance, the servo motor need more power than the Wio Terminal ports provide. Thus, we had to come up with creative solutions and use jumper cables together with the Wio pins.

Learning Outcomes

By taking an extra sprint to plan for the project and start setting up the base structures, we understood the importance of project planning. For example, we learnt that doing a prototype for the GUI is vital in such a project, since it helps the team members to have the same picture in mind. Another big thing we discovered is that GitLab offers remarkable opportunities for project planning. We learnt how to create milestones and link issues to them, as well as got the first experiences of doing templates for merge requests. All of this allows us to have a clear structure and plan and makes it very easy to track the upcoming tasks.
