FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q. I want to see a full trace but my partner(s) are not in IBM Food Trust. What can I do?

A.

Scenario 1:

Partner org is registered with GS1 YES
Partner org has GS1 GLNs YES
You want advanced traceability NO

You should reference your partner's GLNs but should NOT submit master data for those GLNs. Traces will show the locations even without master data and IBM Food Trust will not display anything other than the GLN for that location in the Trace and Recall screens.

Scenario 2:

Partner org is registered with GS1 YES
Partner org has GS1 GLNs YES
You want advanced traceability YES

You should submit master data with and IBM Food Trust ID that uses your IBM Food Trust company prefix and their GLN in the identifier portion of the the IBM Food Trust ID. You then use this IBM Food Trust ID in your events instead of the other party's GLN.

Note: If/when your partner is onboarded, you will need to change your backend integration to start using their GLN (instead of the one you created) if you want data entitlements to flow properly to the other party.

Since all master data submitted by the org uses their own company prefix, this doesn't violate our rules or result in any access control issues.

Scenario 3:

Partner org is registered with GS1 NO
Partner org has GS1 GLNs NO
You want advanced traceability YES

You should submit master data with an IBM Food Trust ID that uses your IBM Food Trust company prefix and reference this ID in your events.

Note: If/when your partner is onboarded, you will need to change your backend integration to start using their GLN (instead of the one you created) if you want data entitlements to flow properly to the other party.

Since all master data submitted by the org uses their own company prefix, this doesn't violate our rules or result in any access control issues.
