Unlinking gmail.com

This page provides instructions for unlinking user's personal email accounts from their .gov/.mil email addresses and associating user's .gov/.mil account with Google. The Digital Analytics Program (DAP) grants access ONLY to emails with the ".gov" or ".mil" domain.

Steps to unlink gmail.com:

Step 1: Log into the personal Gmail account

Step 2: Click on account image in upper right-hand corner (sometimes a photo or an initial). Click on "Google Account", it should display the "Personal Info" tab on the left.

Step 3: Click on "Personal Info" and hit the arrow next to "Email" in the "Contact Info" section: Step

Step 4: Once in “Email”, look at Recovery, Alternate and About Me emails. Remove your .gov,.mil, or contractor address if it is listed under any of these categories.

Step 5: Save

After this, your personal gmail.com and your .gov/.mil accounts should no longer be linked. Next, associate your .gov email address with Google following the instructions below:

Steps to associate your .gov/.mil email address with Google:

Step 1: Click on this link and fill out the form.

Note: Please do not create a new gmail.com address. Only fill out the boxes in red below.

Step 2: once that is accomplished, send an email to dap@support.digitalgov.gov to let us know you've completed the process.
