virus // cannula // virus&cannula video // craniotomy // Note

Viral delivery only

identical as the procedure described below and in the video without the cannulation step

  • step1: Anesthesia (video)
  • step2: Mounting the animal in the stereotax (video)
  • step3: Calibration: drill and syringe (auto or manual calibration/synchronization)
  • step4: Tilt and scaling adjustment (with the syringe needle)
  • step5: Planning of the location of the implantation on the Atlas
  • step6: Drill skull
  • step7: Injection with a syringe
  • step8: End of surgery

Cannula implantation only

this include optical fiber cannula, plastic cannula for drug delivery and GRIN lens
identical as the procedure described below and in the video without the cannulation step

  • step1: Anesthesia (video)
  • step2: Mounting the animal in the stereotax (video)
  • step3: Calibration: drill and ferrule (auto or manual calibration/synchronization)
  • step4: Tilt and scaling adjustment (with the cannula tip or drill tip // go with the smaller diameter tool)
  • step5: Planning of the location of the implantation on the Atlas
  • step6: Drill skull
  • step7: Cannula implantation
  • step8: End of surgery

Viral delivery and cannula implantation

this combine both of the viral procedure and the cannula implantation described above

  • step1: Anesthesia (video)
  • step2: Mounting the animal in the stereotax (video)
  • step3: Calibration: drill / syringe / ferrule (manual calibration/syncrhonization)
  • step4: Tilt and scaling adjustment (with the syringe needle)
  • step5: Planning of the location of the implantation on the Atlas
  • step5: Drill skull
  • step6: Injection with a syringe
  • step7: Cannula implantation
  • step8: Secure the cannula with dental cement (not demonstrated here)
  • step9: End of surgery

Craniotomy

see link for details

  • step1: Anesthesia (video)
  • step2: Mounting the animal in the stereotax (video)
  • step3: Tilt and scaling adjustment (with the drill end mill)
  • step4: Planning of the location of the cranial window
  • step5: Drill skull
  • step6: Injection with a syringe
  • step7: Cannula implantation
  • step8: Secure the cannula with dental cement (not demonstrated here)
  • step9: End of surgery

important

  • other types of viral delivery like iontophoresis can be performed by removing the injector and mounting a dedicated system that can be calibrated in an identical fashion as the syringe/injector provided
