AddingNewWords
To add a new clause (word) into the dictionary one can use button at the top left corner of the main window, menu command or just press Ctrl+W.
Window (with some data) for adding/editing clauses is shown below.
In this example from top to bottom are shown:
- Word's group selector (see word groups) - "D";
- The word itself - "hierro";
- Below it buttons to set up sound link, play the sound, field for transcription - "empty in this example" and asterisk type selector;
- Next rows with translations - "iron (n)" and "iron (v)" and button to add new ones;
- Next context filed - "also - de fierro";
- And finally "Delete", "Add new" and "Save" buttons in the bottom of the window.
In the right side of the window relations are resided. User can add/remove/change them by clicking on "[Add/Edit]" link or by clicking on any of relations. When mouse is placed over a relation row its translations will be shown in a tooltip. Also see adding relations.
User can set a sound link for the word. This link is supposed to contain a correct pronunciation of the word. Link could reference a local sound file (e.g. mp3, wav, etc) or to be a web link.
This sound will be played automatically every time the word appears in this window or in the info popup (if it's not switched off in the settings).
Remote files are cached locally once the sound was played.
To set or change link user must press the left most button in the row of controls below the word field, and after that to enter data into the link window.
In the middle of the window field for the link is placed. To choose local file one can use "Browse local" button. Refresh button allows to update file in the cache (for remote files).
The section of translations includes zero or several possible translations of the word, one per row. "Up" and "Down" buttons of the each row allow to change position of the translation. More used ones are supposed to be higher in the list.
"X" button removes translation.
Click on the translation link opens translation edit window.
Besides the translation itself one can set the part of the word (noun, adjective, etc) for the translation. Parts of the word are shown (in a short form) in many places.
To add a new translation "Add translation" button and the same window are used.
On the left and right from the word groups selector "Next"/"Previous word" buttons are placed. They allow to go through the list of all words that are shown in the main window, in the same order. This can be useful for review of the words one by one. Every time user views a word in this window word's watch counter become increased.
Any changes (include in translations and in relations) will be saved only by "Save" button in the right bottom of the window.
Dates of adding and updating of the word will be set automatically.
