UI Summary Panel

The Image Summary Panel provides a consolidated view of identifying and analytical information for the active image.
It is intended to give users immediate context about an image—its origin, structure, and integrity—without requiring navigation into editors or reports.
All information shown is read-only and updates automatically as the active image changes.
Information in the summary panel is grouped into logical sections based on where the data originates and what it represents.
Not all sections or fields are shown for every image.
Only information relevant to the active image is displayed.
The Title section displays descriptive metadata sourced from the internal image database.
When present, this information helps identify the software, release, and distribution details associated with the image.
The title itself is visually annotated to reflect image status:
- Green indicates a verified image
- Blue indicates an image that was corrected to remove detected modifications
- Default text indicates no special status
Additional descriptive fields such as publisher, year, platform, region, language, version, disk number, and copy protection details are shown when available.
This section is displayed only when the image is found in the database.
The Disk section describes the physical and structural characteristics of the image as it exists on disk.
This includes the image format, detected disk layout, and—when applicable—low-level attributes such as track geometry, rotation speed, data rate, and special encoding features.
For advanced sector and bitstream images, this section may also highlight non-standard tracks or unusual layout characteristics.
Fields appear only when they are meaningful for the current image type.
The Boot Record section presents values parsed from the boot sector and compares them against the detected disk format.
Color is used to draw attention to inconsistencies or validation results:
- Blue indicates values that differ from expected format defaults
- Red indicates invalid or conflicting values
- Green and Blue are used for OEM Name entries found in the database, with verification status indicated by color
Extended boot record fields are shown only when present, and warnings are displayed when invalid bootstrap signatures are detected.
The File System section summarizes the logical filesystem state of the image.
It provides space usage statistics, volume identification, and highlights conditions such as bad sectors, lost clusters, or reserved clusters when they exist.
Date ranges derived from directory entries are also shown to give an overview of file activity within the image.
Only fields relevant to the detected filesystem state are displayed.
The Bootstrap section focuses on the boot loader code itself.
When a boot loader is present, its checksum is shown and compared against known entries in the bootstrap database.
If a match is found, additional contextual information—such as language, company, description, and notes—is displayed.
Alternate OEM names historically associated with the same boot loader may also be listed, with verified associations visually distinguished.
- The summary panel always reflects the active image
- All displayed information is informational only
- Visual indicators are used to highlight validation results and anomalies
- The absence of a field does not imply an error or incomplete image
