Results of the First Testing
The overall results are not positive. It seems confusion has been caused in navigation and the completion of tasks, which could influence users' perception of the application.
)
- What is your overall impression on the application?
- What aspect of the application do you find the most interesting?
- What do you find confusing or problematic in the features?
- How well do the menu options suit your needs for navigation?
- What can be improved in the way of presenting content of recipes?
- How well does the application attract you to share your experience in the traditional recipe section?
- How well does the application attract you to share your experience in the homemade recipe section?
- It was good.
- Functionality is good. It makes you want to explore.
- It is my lack of understanding of terminology/symbols, not the application.
- They were very good.
- The timeline doesn’t mean anything. Delete that word and use comments and variations.
- Hard to find comments as timeline doesn’t make sense to me. (See answer 5)
- Hard to find comments as timeline doesn’t make sense to me. (See answer 5) Additional:
- The person who is writing up comments needs to understand that it needs detail for the very average person who knows nothing about computer or a phone, that type of thing
- No idea what the sidebar and filter symbols mean.
- One issue was trying to go back to comments once I had clicked variations, it trapped me and wouldn’t let me click comment unless I went back and forth from details-> timeline.
- I think it’s a fairly well-designed application, but theres some wording choices that I don't really get. Definite room for improvement.’
- Probably the timeline aspect of the application - like seeing how the foods evolved over time is a really cool aspect.
- I'm a little confused by the difference between 'Homemade' and 'Traditional' - like a lot of homemade meals can be traditional so how do you deal with overlap? And maybe make it more obvious that variations leads to comments.
- Overall, the functionality for the menu options lets me get around well enough so its fine just make sure it clear what leads to what.
- I think the recipe presentation is fine overall, maybe have an option to zoom in on it?
- I'm not sure it 'attracts' me - like I can see the appeal of the recipes, but I'm not too cooking-oriented - I can see how others might be intrigued enough to give their recipes though.
-
It’s a well-designed application, but I was confused by a couple of things. It’s a prototype though, so the issues aren't extreme.
-
The timeline aspect of the application was interesting and I also liked the design of the application.
-
I was confused by the timeline tab a little - not really sure why that leads to comments so maybe make that a little more clear?
-
The functionality for the menu options lets me get around well enough, theres enough options to navigate around quickly.
-
I think the recipe presentation is fine - since you've got a favouriting system I think you've covered your bases well.
-
It attracted me very well - I'm very fond of sharing recipes.
-
My response wouldn't really change, I'd say the application attracts me to publish my recipes very well.
It’s normal. It looks just like other apps for sharing recipes.

I like the variation part. The content is clear and it seems it’s easier to create. I only need to change the original recipe a little bit.
-
I’m confused about the two main categories of Traditional and Homemade. Homemade recipes can also be traditional, isn't it? And I don’t quite understand what these two categories are for.
-
The menu works as other apps. For the filter, I would like to have options like main dishes and appetizer.
-
There are too many texts in origin of recipes. It’s better to replace some text with pictures. Besides, the variation part is good and should be put into somewhere more obvious.
-
It would take so much time to share stories so it doesn’t seem attractive to me. If you do want people to share stories, it’s better to give them more motivation. You can do like points from sharing stories, and regular voting events about the most interesting story.
-
I would like to share the recipe I made, but not necessarily experience or stories. Like I said, I need some motivation.
Users' reaction to the idea of the application is good. The prototype follows conventional design elements and is understandable. Users can easily interact with the prototype and identify required operations. However, one main problem with this prototype is the organization of content. Some pages use confusing wording that does not make sense to users. In addition, the structure of the prototype is unclear due to the overlap between traditional and homemade recipes.
