Testing Plan for Prototype One

1. Goals

The following aspects are to be tested:

  1. Users’ perception and satisfaction towards the functionality
  2. The ease of navigation
  3. The organization of content
  4. Learnability and understandability

2. Preparation

  1. Site: classroom/home
  2. Participants: 4-6 young people from multiple cultures
  3. Materials:
  • A laptop for testing and questionnaire
  • A mobile phone/a book and a pen for note taking
  1. Role: Every team member as the tester to test with participants one to one

3. Introduction

The tester gives a brief description of the application, including its intent, main functions, and target audience. Afterward, the tester tells the participant they have 4 tasks to complete and following that there will be a questionnaire and an interview.

4. Instructions

The tester asks the participant to complete required tasks. Instructions for the participant are presented below.

Task 1: Browse the app

  • Enter the homepage
  • Use the side menu and filter
  • On Traditional page and Homemade page, view the first recipe
  • Return to the homepage

Task 2: Comment a recipe

  • Find the Italy Pizza recipe
  • Leave a comment

Task 3: View a variation of a traditional recipe

  • On the page of Italy Pizza, find the section for variation of that recipe
  • View the first variation
  • Return to the homepage

Task 4: View a family group

  • Find the Thai Green Curry recipe
  • View the details of the family of the author
  • Return to the homepage

5. Observation tasks

While the participant is doing the tasks, the tester should time and observe:

  1. The error made by the participant
  2. When and where the participant hesitates
  3. What confuses the participant Information is recorded with the form below.

6. Questionnaire

After finishing tasks, the tester asks the participant to fill in the questionnaire.

7. Interview

The tester asks the participant the following questions:

  1. What is your overall impression on the application?
  2. What aspect of the application do you find the most interesting?
  3. What do you find confusing or problematic in the features?
  4. How well do the menu options suit your needs for navigation?
  5. What can be improved in the way of presenting content of recipes?
  6. How well does the application attract you to share your experience in the traditional recipe section?
  7. How well does the application attract you to share your experience in the homemade recipe section?
