Standup Notes 2018 11 06
Participants (alphabetical): Conor, Emmanuel, Erik, Heartsucker, Jen, Kevin, Kushal, Mike, Mickael, Nicholas, Nina
New issues related to client added to sprint.
By end of day build client package. Need document decryption, need opening of files in VMS.
https://github.com/freedomofpress/securedrop-workstation/issues/189
Yesterday: Master on workstation was broken for me, complicating review, so submitted https://github.com/freedomofpress/securedrop-workstation/pull/190 ; reviewed Mike's https://github.com/freedomofpress/containers/pull/10 (in support of dom0 RPM PR)
Today: Reviewing https://github.com/freedomofpress/securedrop-workstation/pull/174 (dom0 RPM PR); fast-moving target, rebase requested after merge of SDW 190. Prefer to get 174 in soon, so we can test the RPM hosting. We can bump versions on the RPM package as config changes.
Blockers: Requesting review on SDW 190; just confirm it runs without error.
Yesterday: Support, and more non-SD work
Today: Support, client data, hardware search, and less non-SD work
Blockers: None
No meeting today.
Yesterday: Hiring work. Followed up on audit shipping logistics. Migrated SD Style Guide repo.
Today: More hiring work. Beta/pilot UX planning with Nina. Non-SD work. Mid-sprint check-in w/ Jen.
Blockers: None
Hanging tight -- may be doing reviews, rebasing work as needed.
Yesterday:
- Hit the same problem Kushal did in SDK issue 37, and so I merged in https://github.com/freedomofpress/securedrop-sdk/pull/38
- Tested the messages processing PR in Qubes, all kosher, made platform independent so macOS/Debian folks can continue, then merged that in: https://github.com/freedomofpress/securedrop-client/pull/99
- Pulled in Nick's open https://github.com/freedomofpress/securedrop-client/pull/102 PR into a branch decrypting files so that I could implement/test the rest of the functionality we need, pushed up and will have a PR up in the next couple hours for merge
Today:
- Push up last PR for MVP, do whatever necessary to get it merged
- Build round 1 of securedrop-client deb package, for integration
Things that may slip to tomorrow but are next in the queue:
- Review docs Nick wrote for securedrop-client dev
- Review heartsucker reply PR
Blockers:
- None
Yesterday: Messaging/download PR. Got that out, we got it merged! :)
Today: Will be doing reply work -- getting them to sync. Will probably take all day.
Blockers: None
Travel/PTO
PTO
Yesterday: Upgraded Discourse forum. Had a good fight with Mickael. Had a mental break-down (half-day PTO)
Today: Upgrading Gitlab (:grimacing:) , Trying to debug weblate, securedrop.org pipenv check issue
Yesterday/Today: Opened PR #192 in SDW for signing instructions/release mgmt process. Reviewed #190--did not experience issue myself, approved it. Reviewed Kushal's RPM build PR #174. Python source tarball is not reproducible :(. Unintended? Commented to that effect. Opened PR in deb packaging repo. Started work on #182. Added logic for sd-svs to pull in MIME types list, packages. Still issues with LibreOffice PaX flags. Will be reviewing updater logic.
Yesterday: Nick worked on docs for securedrop-client yesterday, has a PR up in securedrop repo land. He also made a start on #106 but will get a PR up in the next work day.
Today: Mostly doing research cave work, UX planning. Taking time off from actively testing with users to get all synthesis wrapped up. Will be posting stuff for review by EOW.
