This page provides a quick, reliable setup flow for WHDLoad titles in Amiberry. For deeper details, see WHDLoad Auto-booting, WHDLoad Booter FAQ, and WHDLoad Panel.
- Kickstart ROMs installed (see Kickstart ROMs (BIOS)).
- WHDLoad archives (
.lha) available in your WHDLoad path. - WHDLoad boot files available in the
whdbootdirectory (Amiberry can download these if missing).
Go to the Paths panel and set:
- WHDLoad Archives path
- Kickstarts path
- Configurations path (if you want per-title configs)
Click Rescan Paths after changes.
Use any of the following:
- WHDLoad Panel
- Quickstart (WHDLoad Auto-boot section)
- Command line (
amiberry MyGame.lha)
If recognized, Amiberry will auto-populate fields and apply recommended settings from the WHDLoad XML database.
If you want per‑title overrides:
- Load the
.lhaand confirm settings - Save the configuration under the same base name as the archive
- Amiberry will auto‑use it for future loads
- The
.lhais not recognized in the XML database. - The WHDLoad archive is in the wrong folder.
- The WHDLoad boot files are missing.
- The XML database entry is outdated or missing fields.
- You saved a
.uaeconfig without loading the.lhafirst.
- Check default controller/mouse in Input and Custom Controls.
- Ensure RetroArch mappings (if used) are configured in Paths.
- Use Custom Fields in the WHDLoad Panel to tweak per‑title options.
- Edit the WHDLoad database if needed (see WHDLoad DB Structure).
