week 13 The Design of Physical Prototype
Our team plans to use physical prototypes as a carrier for concepts, with a focus on environmentally conscious recycling, using the following tools and materials:
- The phone case
- Recyclable cardboard
- The sponge
- The tape
- RFduino
The initial hypothesis of our group is to create a prototype of the mobile phone case that simulates the following figure, which consists of two parts, one is to display the light function of different colours, and the other is the display which can display different expression packs.
The entire device is divided into two parts, one is an internal structure that contains the transformed lights controlled by RFdunio. One is an external structure, mainly to simulate the production of a mobile phone case.
The RFdunio component list and picture below:
- The USB Shield
- The RGB Shield
- The BLE Module Board
- The 2xxAAA Battery Shield
- The SparkFun Micro OLED Breakout
- Several wires
- The Circuit breadboard
First, we placed the constructed RFdunio on the cardboard and used the marker to draw the outline and cut the corresponding shape. Also, use the new cardboard to cut out the same size paper from the phone case. On the cardboard as the bottom of the prototype, stick a sponge around the perimeter of the RFdunio and place the device. We use scissors to cut out the corresponding holes on the cardboard at the top of the prototype so that we can view the lights of different colours and control the colour of the lights. Then, a small groove on the outer cardboard that can be loaded with the replaceable facial expression paper is produced. Finally, the two cardboards with the hardware components are glued together. The test can be used after it is completed. The picture is as follows:
