Latest Release
The SoundCast v2.1.1 code and inputs reflect the latest model as of winter 2018.
SoundCast 2.0 code was used in the PSRC Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) in Fall 2017. Furthermore, QCEW confidential employment data was also used in the RTP, and in comparison the inputs that are available online come from the open LODES employment data source.
The source code is available here on GitHub. Code changes since the SoundCast 2.0 release for the Regional Transportation Plan include:
- Code and input clean up for easier model use
- Mode choice for airport trips
- Bug fix in destination choice model for social/recreation trips
- Summary script refinement
- Script that allows moving households and jobs for land use changes
The openly available inputs use LODES employment data. The PSRC Regional Transportation Plan used confidential QCEW employment data. Comparisons of model runs results using LODES vs. confidential QCEW can be found in this draft document.
The 2014 Base Year inputs and 2040 Constrained Plan-Land Use Vision inputs are available for download here. The 2040 constrained plan represents the regional vision for land use and transportation under fiscal constraint.
Note that zipped source code and inputs may cause run-time issues. Before unzipping these files, right-click the zipped folders and select "unblock" in the General pane. This will ensure that all files are accessible as required, especially for compiled Daysim programs.
The wiki describes the basic theory and process to use PierceCast for travel modeling applications.
