Raspberry Pi Camera Dual Spindle PnP Head ...

Function

This dual spindle pick-and-place head has an integral MakerSlide carriage. Two lengths of 15-gauge hypodermic tubing serve as spindles and are rotated by a shared spline gear driven by an A-axis stepper motor. Each spindle is lifted/lowered by a dedicated servo. Suction is applied independently to each tip by a solenoid valves enclosed in a vacuum enclosure in which the spindle travels freely on the A and Z-axes. A spring on each spindle provides positive, gentle contact when lowered onto horizontal surfaces within the travel tolerance. The spring also eliminates head Z crashes. The Raspberry Pi camera is mounted between the spindles, looking down. When the head is over the PCB tray mirror section, the mirror permits visual inspection of the tip/component alignment. Lastly, the Raspberry Pi itself provides on-head processing control and is Wi-Fi enabled.
