Supporting Simulators

Simulators are light weight implementations of IHE actors which support testing. Their configuration allows for both correct operation and the insertion of errors as necessary to support testing. Simulator configurations are coordinated with the design of the tests they support.

The coordination of tests and simulators for the purpose of conformance testing is managed by the Conformance Test Tool. We refer to this coordination as Orchestration, a term taken from the Service Oriented Architecture literature.

The Conformance Test Tool contains a separate tab for each IHE actor type it can test. Inside each actor tab at the top is a collection of configuration options and a button labeled Initialize Testing Environment.
